Enabling Sustainable Signal Processing – Our Sustainability Statement

06/11/2025

At Slipstream Design, we believe that better connections shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. That’s why we’re focused on creating communication solutions that are both secure and sustainable — helping people stay connected while reducing our environmental footprint. From how we manage our own energy use and waste to the way we design smarter, more efficient technology, sustainability is built into everything we do. Our goal is simple: to make connectivity cleaner, greener, and more responsible for the future.

Read our full sustainability statement below.

Slipstream Design is committed to providing quality engineering design services in a manner that ensures a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and minimises our potential impact on the environment. We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, and we will strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all that we do, both in how we operate day-to-day and in our tech design.

Environmentally-Conscious Engineering Design

Firstly, we deliver secure and sustainable communication solutions that not only enhance connectivity but also reduce environmental impact: we pride ourselves on offering small-footprint, low-energy hardware across the board.

For example, we allocate a significant portion of our Research and Development Programme investment to developing ASTRO, a cutting-edge, ultra-compact, and highly efficient wideband adaptive radio unit that contributes to a greener, more sustainable digital future.

Our software-first approach enables us to customise ASTRO’s functionality for security, defence, and space applications. It is purposefully modular in design so components can be easily customised, upgraded, or repaired without discarding the entire system.

These core software-defined design philosophies offer a significant reduction in typical product emissions and waste both in the mechanisms of development but also when deployed in the field and throughout the product’s lifespan.

Business-Wide Efforts

As well as ensuring our core engineering service operates hardware design philosophies that are better for the planet, in the day-to-day running of our business, we:

  • As far as possible, purchase products and services that do the least amount of damage to the environment. We purchase locally and have built up a strong regional supply chain for our radio frequency operations
  • Communicate our environmental commitments to suppliers, clients, customers, and the public, and encourage their support
  • Train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work, including minimising waste, energy, and water usage within our buildings and processes
  • We encourage our employees to travel to work via alternative methods to driving to reduce their carbon footprint per capita.
